It had to be RED!

In honor of the new President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, I have to share something Justin said today:

I went shopping this morning and bought Justin a couple of new ties and clothes. When he got home from school, I showed him what I had bought. He hates those clip on ties that come with all the little boy suit sets. So, I have been on a quest to find him a "real tie". One of the ties I bought is red with a black and white design. I knew he would love it because red is his favorite color of all time. This is a kid who wants a red bedroom, red truck, red juice...you get the picture. But his response caught me off guard. It made me giggle.

Justin: Cool Mom, you got me a president's tie! Thanks, I like it a lot!

Me: What is a "president's tie"?

Justin: You know, whenever any president gets up to speak they wear a red tie like this with a cool design on it.

The funny thing was when I looked up pictures of the inauguration. Yep, it's practically the same tie! You know, honestly, if I had thought of it being a "president's tie" I would have never bought it for my 6-year-old. But now, it is already cemented into his wardrobe. I'm sure I'll learn to like it. But every time I see it I'm going to think of my little president-to-be...and laugh.

I have noticed how Justin has been so excited to learn about our new president. His class watched part of the inauguration on Tuesday. It's big news for all of us, but it has surprised me how monumental this occasion has been in Justin's eyes. My little guy is growing up...fast!
