Now that's Entertainment!

This is what we did today to entertain ourselves during our free time since Travis is in a land far, far away:

We tried on Halloween costumes, of course!

I feel free about re-wearing old costumes year after year after year. Case in point: Travis and I have dressed up as pirates for the last 4+ years. My sister, Tawnya, even wore my pirate costume one year. I have been really digging for something both boys would get excited about this year so I don't have to go buy new costumes. Justin informed me that he wants to be a police officer and WILL NOT be recycling past Halloween costumes this year. Hmmm...I'll have to get creative for that one.

Here are Tyler's favorites:
1. Costco Bakers

2. Construction Worker

3. Train Engineer

4. Pirate - I have been trying to catch this classic Tyler expression on film for so long. I am so happy!

And we can't forget two extra good ones that made honorable mention:

5. Stunt Double (for himself!)

He is "re-enacting" his leap from the top of our long, steep, straight flight of stairs while riding his car. I can't believe that really happened! I heard a huge crash last night while I was getting Justin out of the tub. I flew out of the bathroom fearing the worst and found him screaming at the bottom of the stairs. Luckily, he only needed a few minutes of an ice pack to the head. Why do these things only happen while Travis is out-of-town? Oh, my goodness!

6. Ladies' Man

Today was the first time I have ever seen him play this role! I was laughing so hard! He has a little crush on his "friend" on his soccer team. I don't think she ever even pays attention to him besides calling for him to get ready to kick the ball when he is off in la-la land. He has been talking about her all week and Justin just sighs in frustration every time Tyler asks, "Do you know my friend Hayley, Justin?" Tonight during Tyler's soccer game, he noticed Hayley on the other side on the playing field. He b-lined it straight through the game to stand by her. I don't think he even said anything to her. He just stood there and guffawed. She did have a puppy, I'll give her that, but he was totally staring! So cute!

And the winner is:
You'll have to wait for Halloween! Oh, the anticipation! I'm hoping he doesn't pick "stunt double" or "ladies' man". I'll have to find a "fainting lady" costume to wear!

It sounds like you have all of the fun while I am out of town! :) I am glad to hear that Tyler is OK and I love all of the costumes! It will be a hard decision for Halloween.

That is so exciting. I LOVE Halloween. I can't believe I am not blogging about it. I have to get on the stick!

Halloween is a blast but the costume thing can get so complicated. I love that Tyler has a little crush -- he's starting early. You'd better watch that one. :)

So funny! I love the ladies man!

You probably don't remember this, but my shirt (the one I was wearing when Lincoln proposed) is a part of your pirate costume! (Well, maybe it still is.) Do you remember that Halloween party? That was so fun, and Justin and Wyatt were so scared of Travis in his wig!

Jeri, little did you know that shirt would live on and on! I forgot that black velvety top was such a sentimental shirt! And to think we went to town chopping it up!?!? Now I feel fine about wearing it every Halloween for the next 10 years! Hehehe!

I think Hailey is worthy of a first crush- she's super cute!

Doug had a bad rap in the singles ward as a player, so on our third date (to a Singles Ward Halloween Party) he came dressed as a convicted player in denim and handcuffs. I don't think it would work for a four-year-old... But just for future reference, it's a cheap costume.

What wonderful costumes. I don't think Isaac will get that whole costume idea until next halloween. Good thing Warren and I are WAY into costumes!

Man Kaeylynn, you still have it easy. My 10 year old wants to be a detective...don't know what to do for that just yet and Halloween is just around the corner. As for my younger kids, they get recycled costumes. :) We have everything you can thing of...except a detective outfit. Got any ideas on where I can score a trench coat? (big sigh)

I will be excited to see what you and Travis go as this year. I have to come up with costumes for Tony and I by Friday. I'm open for suggestions.

Good luck finding costumes Kaylynn! No detective costume here...but Justin is going to be a police SWAT team guy. Oh, I was just thinking that the Burtons might have a trench coat since Tylin and Lexi wore those Volturi costumes at the Twilight night. Could you tuck in the hood?

Travis and I don't have costume plans this year. I know that's pretty boring. But, since there is no costume party to go to besides the trunk or treat, I think we'll just have fun with the kids in their costumes this year. It will be fun to see you and Tony all dressed up at the trunk or treat! You too, Sharleen and Kirstin!
