Last weekend, we went to the
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Portland. We had such a fun time! At first Tyler was terrified of the clowns until the animals started coming out and then he became a fan.

I remember going to this circus with my family as a little girl. My biggest memory is of the elephants and the trapeze acts. Half of the pictures I took this time were of the elephants. I thought they were amazing!

7 motorcycles racing around in this dome...amazing!

What fun! We saw the circus when it came to Salt Lake last year. Eliot loved the motorcycles, but Afton was fixed on the idea that they didn't choose her to join the show (plot of the show was that a family came from the audience to be the MC and other acts...of course they were all professionals, but Afton's dreams of fame and fortune were fanned for just long enough to be sorely disappointed when they picked that other family...we're so literal at our house.)
That looks way fun!
For some reason, those little circuses scare me -- I'm not sure why I get creeped out. However, a Ringling Brothers show is definitely the way to go. That looks so fun I feel inspired to take my kids someday!
Oh, wait! Now I figured out why circuses freaked me out. Did you ever see "Something Wicked This Way Comes"? It's an older, scary Disney flick that frightened me for years (I saw it at a CTR class party). I think that's what soured my view of the circus, but I'll get over it for the sake of my kids. :) Ringling seems much less sinister.
Oops! Jer just reminded me that "Something Wicked" took place at a carnival, not a circus. Okay, so now my big epiphany was for naught. Anyway, sorry to hijack your comments with my endless self-reflection. :)
Hmm.. feeling the need to go to the circus this year. :) Way fun!
Those are great shots of the elephants!
