I love summer. I love the warm, dry weather. I love the sun. I even love the little rosy sun-kissed cheeks. I love running in the sprinklers with my kids. I love picnics under the swingset and trips to the beach. I love that the sun doesn't go down until LATE. Get the picture? I really enjoy this time of year. Except for one thing. You know, up until today I thought I loved sandboxes. But, now I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong, I love that my kids like to spend hours digging and playing in that beautiful Oregon beach sand. But I don't love cleaning off the kids afterwards. And changing a diaper...not the best.
Here's Tyler digging in the lovely sand and Justin with his friend and the water rocket.Today I plopped them in the tub to play and clean off. But, I'm thinking this may get old after 2 or 3 baths a day all summer. Help! Do any of you have any tips that will help me to still like our sandbox tomorrow? I don't remember it being any big deal last summer...I must have just forgotten my secret to sandbox love.

I can totally feel your pain! I haven't let my kids play in the sand yet.
I had sandbox clothes for the kids. I undressed/re-dressed them on the back porch before they came in the house. Used an old towel to dust them off, and would sometimes use baby powder if the sand was sticking. I still had no love.
Ok Kayelynn,
I am sure you will get some good tips, but this is the one I think will work the best, and gets Travis another piece of equipment that is a NEED. (in the even that he has not already picked up said equipment)
A long time ago (think high school long time ago) I worked in a wood shop part time. To clean off all the sawdust much like you are attempting to clean the sand, we used an air compressor with a nozzle on the hose. Now, you will obviously want to turn the pressure down to a manageable level so that you don't hurt the skin, but the clothes can take a pretty good blast o air, and who knows, your boy's might even think its fun! Who am I kidding, of course they will think its fun. Who wouldn't love an air hose. :)
Sure beats using a pressure washer! You know, I think I'd even look forward to blasting them clean with that air compressor! :) This could be good.
Pressure washer that could be funny...well, as you probably know, I use the dyson...I also leave my dogs up to keeping the cats out of the sandbox...if they could just kill the rat!
Tim! That's the greatest idea I've ever heard. I'm impressed! My solution to the sandbox mess? Don't have one and occasionally use the neighbors so it's not too often. However, we do have an air compressor . . . so maybe it would work to have one here. Hmmmm . . . thoughts are a-brewin'. :)
I have one and my kids love it! I have been known to strip them all down and hose them off before they come in at the end of the day. Try having a girl that gets sand dumped on her head on a regular basis. It takes a few shampooings with combing in between just to get it out.
