My boys BEG for a dog weekly. Sometimes daily. Sometimes hourly. I say I already have two kids to take care of...I don't need to add a puppy to house train to my life.
They are smart boys and immediately turned to begging for ANY pet. I tell them to go play with a friend and enjoy his/her pet dog, fish, cat or whatever they have. Still more begging for a dog. Justin is sure he can earn $100 for a dog. I told him we can't get a dog and if we ever do get a pet we have to start with something small...like a goldfish. He told this to my friend when he was playing with her son. I just laughed when she told me. Stickin' to my guns...that's what I do.
So, because I have to do SOMETHING pet-like to put a stop to all that begging, I'd like to introduce our "new puppy". Meet Scruffy. Yes, right here on the screen. This one seems more manageable to me. You can even help us take care of him by clicking on that red ball. Dogs love to chase balls. Maybe if I'm lucky he'll chase that ball right over to YOUR blog one day.
Post Update: The cyber pup was cute while he lasted...almost two weeks. Ha ha!I'm ready to let someone else enjoy him...ciao.

I'm with you on this one. We have a rabbit that lives outside in a hutch. And that's the furriest pet that will ever join our family. I barely can keep up with feeding, watering and bathroom trips for my own three kids, whom I love, and gave birth to. I'm not about to willingly start cleaning up after a fur ball who sheds and tears things up!
Buy your boys a "Webkinz" dog. It's a little stuffed animal, that they then can care for in its "virtual" world online. My kids LOVE their Webkinz, and it's as close to the real thing as they'll ever get!
Amen, Sista! Thanks for the tip. My boys haven't discovered Webkinz yet. I'm sure they'd LOVE them!
Goodness! That's my kind of pet. Jayce was just asking me for a dog today, and I just can't do it! I have enough responsibility. Very cute!
lol... my kinda dog. Good for you sticking to your guns. Mine keep asking too.. the answer is still no. So we go play with the Gardners dogs. :)
K, I totally forgot you wanted instructions for the Christmas ornaments. They were silver vinyl and crystal vinyl words, just peeled and put on the clear ornament. With a piece of ribbon to tie onto the tree. So simple. Did that make sense?
I'm way way behind on blogging so you won't know this yet but...our dog is gone...Ry's sister and husband took her. They love dogs! Best of both worlds. We still have her we just don't "have" her!
I would say stick to your guns but in my case it worked well to go through the pain for 3 months and now the begging has stopped completely. Hayley now "gets" why we don't want and won't ever get a dog again! Hopefully her understanding will last.
We do still have lots of pretend pets though...and I'm with your friend, Webkinz held us off for a good year!
I hear you! I love Cyrus, BUT...and that is a big BUT...I can't stand finding someone to watch him when we leave town. He doesn't EAT when we leave because he misses us, and he gets even skinnier! Tell your boys that! =) This online doggie is a good choice!
Thanks, Kari! That totally helped. You inspired me. :) We tried to do the monograms, but couldn't get them to lay down right for all the letters.
I decided to use silver/white vinyl to make a set of snowflakes to stick on clear glass ornaments. Then I made black or silver nativity pictures to go on larger clear glass ornaments. I'll have to post pictures of my projects....
Oh, JaNae! I didn't know you had to give your dog away. But, it sounds like you have the best of both worlds since the dog is still with someone in the family. You know, I'm seriously thinking about those Webkinz.
Jeri - poor Cyrus! I remember he used to do that when you lived in Oregon. He's such a great dog! If we do ever get a dog, he'll have to be Cyrus' puppy. :)
