Last night, Travis and I went to see the Broadway production of "Wicked" in downtown Portland. We went with a big group of friends and had such a fun night! It was exciting to get all dressed up and have cool places to go! We went to dinner at an excellent restaurant called Henry's Tavern. Then we hurried over to the Keller Auditorium for the show. It was fantastic! We had amazing seats and were so impressed with the performance!
The show was better than I had expected and I am looking forward to watching the original "Wizard of Oz" so I can put it all together in my head. The music was fun and the set/costumes looked really good! I loved Elphaba! I learned later that at age 8 the actress played Young Cosette in the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables (on CD). Wow! Oh, and I heard that "The Lion King" may be coming back to Portland next year! I hope so! I loved that Broadway show would love to take Travis! I'm crossing my fingers for that one!

it looks fun!
love, justin
Glad you had such a fun time! I'm excited to go see it myself! :)
I LOVE Wicked. I have seen it 4 times (3 in LA, once in San Francisco), and it gets better every time. My husband has flat out forbid me to see it again...:) anyway, so glad you enjoyed it, I love listening to the soundtrack and replaying it in my mind.
Don't read the book...it's very different than the play, and much darker. I read it after seeing the show the first time, and was completely disappointed. The play is so much better (at least in my book!)!
Yay! What a fun night out. You look so cute!
I haven't seen the show, but I have to second-- DON'T READ THE BOOK! It was horrible and I stopped reading it after a few chapters.
Cute comment from your boy!
Looks like I now have a computer-saavy 6-year-old! It's not a big surprise, but yikes! I let him scroll down and look at the new posts on our blog now and then. He finally figured out he could leave a comment. :) I'm glad to see it was a nice one!
Tawnya, you'll LOVE the show! Dan will be so happy! :)
Alyson, that's so funny your husband won't let you go again! I would totally see this 4 times! It was that good! And thanks for the tip on the book.
Jeri, I'm never going to read that book...it sounds so different from the show. I'm glad they left out the crazy stuff in the performance. Thanks for letting me know. :)
Goodness! I'd love to see it -- glad you had such a blast!
Yea! How fun...I have a ticket in October in Denver! I am so excited! Finally!
Kayelynn, happy belated birthday! Warren and I saw Wicked last night and had amazing seats as well - it makes such a difference (I've seen so many shows standing up or with limited view). We loved it too!
Sharleen, did you see Kaylynn Matteson? I think they were going last night also. Glad you had a fun time! I loved that big dragon on top! Wasn't the set cool? And those monkeys! I thought they had found guys with monkey-shaped heads...then off came the mask during then curtain call at the end!
I would so love to see wicked!!! I'm just a little jealous...but happy for you!
Sounds like so much fun! I have only heard good things about that show. You've made me want to check on shows here in DC.
