County Fair

Yesterday we went to the Washington County Fair held right next to the Hillsboro airport near our home. I can't believe that after almost 8 years of living in Hillsboro this is the first time we have attended the Fair. We had a lot of fun!

Because I had visions of Charlotte's Web, we went to go meet the animals first. I realized our little city boys haven't spent much time with barn animals because as we were in the first building with the chickens, ducks, geese, bunnies and guinea pigs, Tyler plugged his nose and yells, "I do not like this smell! Let's get out of here!" Then he cried through the big bull and cow building. It stunk so bad that Justin b-lined it past the next two entrances and chose the sheep instead. Just for the record, the pigs smelled the best of the bunch!

I think Justin and Tyler just wanted to get over to all the carnival rides and leave the animals to the judges! Justin rode on his very first roller coaster!

He loved it and laughed the whole way through. I was so happy watching the look of pure joy on his face! Tyler loved his first ride on a carousel horse and after all of out ride tickets ran out, neither of the boys wanted to come home.

On the way to the car, Justin asked me why we had to go home, "Is it because of the time or the money?" I said "Both. It is dinner time and we ran out of tickets." He said he definitely wants to come back next year. And I do too!

I struggled with the decision to go to the fair. I knew Isaac would love all those stinky animals but that my nose wouldn't be able to take it. I'm glad you all had so much fun. Maybe next year . . .

I just kept waiting for the story about the little runaway...

We told the boys that we would leave immediately if either of them tried to run away! Of course that did the trick! I'm using that one again the next time we go to Target or Walmart!

That is a great idea for the fair, but a terrible idea for the store! If my kids knew that they would run away immediately!

True...and we wouldn't ever have time to buy anything!

The fair is so fun. We didn't make it this year. The rides are so much money but there's so much other stuff to do.

Beth, what does your family like to do at the fair? I really didn't know much more about it besides animals and rides. Give me some ideas so we can be too busy to spend all that money on rides next year. :)

You know, I hear you about not doing the fun local things. Surprisingly, Vegas has a few fun things that I keep meaning to attend yet never get around to it. I can't be complacent . . . we won't be here forever! :)

Glad you had fun!
