Tips

I just watched a discussion on internet safety and learned about Google Alerts. The suggestion was given to add your name, etc., to an alert because it will let you know when your information comes up online and you can have a chance to manage any questionable stuff. I'll have to do a little more research, but it sounds like it might be a good idea. Do any of you know more about this service?

I don't, but post again if you find out more. I'm always looking for ways to manage my online info. Thanks!

I think this could be a good suggestion if your name is fairly unique. For instance under no circumstances would I search for my name in Google. (again unfortunately) I got pressured into searching my name a while back, and was very surprised by the results. (i hope I am giving my name a better rep than what's out there)

That being said, as time goes by I am growing more and more leery of how much information Google has on all of us. I see search engine bots searching my web pages constantly. I suppose it just goes to show that at least for what we can control, if you aren't comfortable having the whole world see it, you shouldn't put it online.
